2009 SUMMER READING PROGRAM

"BE CREATIVE AT YOUR LIBRARY"

The 2009 Summer Reading Program kicked off with much entuhusiasm, once again appealing to all children as well as adults. This was a fun event enjoyed by all. The program was the same at both Midway and Mt. Sterling. We made available library materials for check out during the program while in Midway. Residents were able to come into the computer lab beginnig at 10 a.m and request materials on Wednesdays and Thursdays, as well as choose from the portable bookmobile on location. We remained on site for this feature for patrons until approximately 1:00 p.m. Items requested by the Midway residents were brought to them on the following Wednesday if the item was available by that date.

No pre-registration was required. All events were held from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm

One of the featured performers included Andy Yurasek, Deer Creek Naturalist. Andy provideed a very energetic, enthusiastic show capturing everyone's attention with his fantastic stories. We also had Pam Spence, of "Puppet-Kind". Pam gave us a fun, interactive show of storytelling and puppetry drawn form the magical world of folk and fairy tale.

Our last performer of the season was Beverly Comer of Storytelling and More. Beverly's show was titled "Imagination Celebration...Fun with Stories!" The show shared stories, songs, puppets and fun with the children, adults and staff of the library.

*Note* Due to a last minute conflict, Mr. Chuck White had to reschedule to come back to The Mt. Sterling Public Library for 2 special story hours. He was here for a family program on September 19 at 11:00 AM., and again once in December 5. Both visits were fun filled, and entertaining for all ages!

"Lunch on the Libray Lawn" will be featured once again this year on the following dates: Friday's July 30 August 6, and August 13 with live entertainment!
