Welcome to the Mount Sterling, Ohio Public Library's web site. Through the efforts of long time resident and respected civic leader Mary Lou Stiverson, a complete history of Mount Sterling and the surrounding area is being compiled on this site. Countless hours of research and narration by Ms. Stiverson has led to one of the most educational and interesting sites of its kind. From our founders page to the Civil War to our WW1 roster, each page is rich in text and photos. Our Genealogy page lists Pleasant Cemetery as well as other local cemeteries. If you or someone you know graduated from Mount Sterling High School , class, sports and school photos from 1884 through 1942 can be found on this page. Notes of interest on the Kiousville , Big Plain , Yankeetown , Era, MadisonMills and Cook Station area may be found on these pages. Local Veterans of the Spanish American War and the War of 1812 are listed on these pages. Over a hundred photos captures the growth and lifestyle of early Mount Sterling in our Photo Gallery . The Mount Sterling Tribune dating from the 1890's thru the 1940's have been placed on microfilm. The library has a viewer and printer to look up and print out old articles of interest.
